REQUIRED: High School Diploma, plus 3 years of laboratory experience; OR 3 years of college level science; OR certification under CLA.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to use scientific rules for laboratory directives and for troubleshooting; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize and manage time; able to work independently.

Ability to communicate. Operate for specimen de-identification, arm-hand steadiness, able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, ability to work with cold temperatures for long periods of time.
This position will operate under the Indiana University Genetics Biobank (IUGB) Biorepository Operations Manager and IUGB Accessioning Supervisor to assist with inventory management services related to biospecimen storage and tracking. Responsibilities include: specimen de-identification upon receipt, storage of frozen specimens from multiple studies (internal and external collaborators), perform inventory of specimens in physical storage locations, compare to LIMS reports of virtual storage locations and reconcile discrepancies.
Receive international and local sample shipments. Accession samples into Oncore Database and other required systems. Maintain chain of custody tracking thru sample storage locations while processing or in permanent storage locations. Pull samples from locations to prepare for sample distributions. Trained in IATA shipping requirements. Ship samples locally and internationally.
They will train new staff members and hourly employees in designated sample processes. They will support implementation of new SOPs and comply with all established SOPs. They will comply with established SOPs, monitor equipment temperatures and discontinue freezer access if temperature rises beyond acceptable limits.
