Job Description:

Kelly Services is currently hiring a Senior Applications Chemist for a DIRECT HIRE position in Charlotte, NC. This is a full-time direct hire role with benefits and relocation assistance.

  • Requires the ability to formulate from scratch and troubleshoot formulas when necessary

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline required. 

  • 10+ years’ experience in product formulations, adjustments, and experimental design desired. 

  • Experience with ink and coatings application tool set and characterization, analytical instrumentation, and various wet chemistry techniques required. 

  • Experience with ISO9001 Document Control, Internal audits, desired. 

  • The role will work between the lab & an office. Must be comfortable with client interactions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer initiated and internal Application projects focused on the development and commercialization of new products and technologies.

  • Support the introduction of new products to customers and supports the manufacturing of these products. 

  • Constructively interact with technical marketing and the commercial sales team to provide technical support and facilitate productive feedback to customers.

  • Visit customer facilities to attend trial runs of new products, trouble-shoot products in line, and to make formal presentations to customers.                        

  • Create lab scale formulation blends and analyze as part of new product evaluations and customer requested support of existing                                                             

  • Excellent communication skills, written or verbal, to convey test results or findings to both internal and external customers                                                              

  • Co-ordinate and oversee routine maintenance and calibration of Application equipment                     

  • Support Production and Pilot Plant for troubleshooting or product improvement testing

  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace through 5S discipline                                                

  • Promotes health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements

  • Follow good laboratory practice in the maintenance of laboratory notebooks, technology/formulation databases, formula cards, and technical graphs, tables, and reports.                                                      

  • Writes Work Request response reports and other internal reports to promote the development of products                                                           

  • Research and development of new Application test methods applicable to new development and existing products to permit sales promotion into existing and new market sectors.                                

  • Review, revise, or develop new SOP's to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System

  • Liase with teams at other facilities to maximize the usage of equipment and build synergistic applications and data sets                                                                             

  • Train new employees or co-workers as required
