The position has the responsibility of performing quality control (QC) analytical testing. The candidate must possess knowledge in one or more analytical techniques and have the ability to execute test methods, including sample preparation, instrumentation setup and performance checks, sample analysis, data processing, and reporting. The candidate must also have excellent lab notebook documentation skills, comply with quality system processes, work well in a team environment, and work efficiently. The role functions as part of an analytical chemistry team that works under ISO17025 requirements in the medical device field.

The QC Chemist may be asked to work with the product support & research and development team within the Analytical lab. Specific job duties will be similar to those in QC, but the work will be of a research nature and work direction will come from senior lab staff members.

  • Successfully train to and comply with quality system and lab processes
  • Execute validated test methods across a range of Analytical techniques, including melt flow index testing, FTIR, Karl Fisher, wet techniques, particle size, and surface area
  • Document testing and data analysis results in an electronic lab notebook and laboratory information management system
  • Support investigations into aberrant test results
  • Establish, communicate and execute to timelines for test completion as part of the QC lab team to achieve business targets
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, material science, or related technical discipline
  • General Analytical chemistry laboratory techniques with a preference for experience in: Melt Flow Index, Infrared Spectroscopy, Physical Property Measurements, Moisture Analysis, Particle Size, Surface Area, etc.
  • Experience and understanding of cGMP, ISO17025, FDA and ICH requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on daily tasks
  • Ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision
  • Use of Microsoft Word & Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful candidate will have experience in a dynamic team environment
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software and Electronic Lab Notebooks
  • Experience working in and documenting experiments in a high regulated environment
  • Knowledge of technical concepts and principals underlying Organic and Inorganic techniques
Physical Job Requirements
  • Stand / sit / walk 8 hrs per day
  • Perform experiments at bench height
  • Light lifting / bending stretching to support test apparatus setup / teardown
  • Use computer and phone and participate in meetings
