Under general supervision, this position schedules staff,evaluates, prioritizes, organizes, and completes technical, regulatorycompliance, and operation functions of Cytology section. Participates ininteractions and / or workflow with the Histology section, as needed. Accurately and efficiently reads, reports,and refers cytology testing results including use of Cytology / Histologycomputer software. Coordinates work activities and workflow, as needed.Interacts with Pathologists and other hospital staff members. Performs GYN,non-GYN, and FNA cytology processes.

Consistently follows all company and Cytology /Histology / Clinical Laboratory departmental procedures / policies.
Meets population specific competencies, jobcompetencies, regulatory and compliance competencies, and required professionallicensure.
Performs and completes GYN, Non-GYN, and FNAcytology processes using accurate, precise, and efficient means.
Provides input for evaluation of staffperformance; supports all regulatory compliance activities; creates staff workschedules; evaluates, assists, and / or performs pre-analytic samplepreparation, analytic activities, and post-analytic activities
Acts as a resource to other cytologists,cytotechnicians, and clerks to evaluate / resolve problems.
Supports and participates in performanceimprovement projects for the department; involved and participates inactivities that impact facility-wide success.
Attends department education / traininginservices; attends departmental meetings
Actively participates in the CAP ProficiencyTest (PT) Program from beginning to closure including receipt; distribution ofsamples; coordinating testing events; collection of samples, reports, anddocumentation; collating data / information for reporting PT results; obtainingappropriate signatures for result reporting; returning all samples and / ordocumentation to CAP; filing of results; filing of CAP reports in appropriatebinders / areas; and maintaining other proficiency requirements, as needed.
May support Histology department, as needed
Knowledge and hands-on experience inCytotechnology including Gyn, non-Gyn, and FNA activities
Requires at least 4 yrs of experience ascytotechnologist including in the acute care setting.
California State Cytotechnologist license(active) required
American Society of Clinical Pathologists(ASCP) certification recommended
