The mid-career NEPA Communication Planner in our Atlanta, GA office, will have the opportunity to work on all communication elements related to environmental clearance to meet NEPA requirements and related environmental regulations for a complex transportation project.  The work may entail serving a client during the pre-let and post let phases of a Public Private Partnership (P3). The candidate will report to the Deputy Project Manager (DPM) for Environmental.  The candidate will be a collaborator and a leader and will preferably have demonstrated experience working on NEPA projects.   

•Develops an integrated NEPA communication engagement strategy that is project phase dependent, that meets project and client objectives to include communicating with the following:  public; resource agencies; state and local governments; adjacent projects; and other stakeholders.•Develops comprehensive communication •Conducts special studies •Collaboratively and cooperatively works with the client and their representatives •Develops or reviews content developed by others various mediums, including web, video, and print.•Coordinates with others on the team•Sets team goals; develops a plan to meet those goals; inspires and motivates the team to deliver on those goals with quality deliverables and within time and budget constraints.•Develops and or reviews content developed by others including presentations, reports, and studies; ensures all content meets quality expectations for clarity, purpose, and accuracy.•Guides, trains, develops, and mentors other team members.•Participates in project public meetings including, presentation of content, answering public inquiries, and supporting client leadership in their official duties.•Prepares or reviews responses to public inquiries.Position is in an office environment, and candidate must have the ability to use computer software.   Some travel may be required to attend client meetings and to attend scheduled public information meetings, including those outside of normal work hours.  May occasionally visit study area, construction sites, and or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions. •Bachelors degree; prefer in environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, biology, environmental planning, environmental engineering). •Minimum of 5 years of professional communication experience with NEPA experience; ideally with demonstrated experience on transportation projects with or consulting for state or federal Department of Transportation in the Planning or Environmental discipline
•Ability to manage the communication tasks of NEPA project independently. •Strong technical writing skills and effective communication skills. •Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. •Ability to work independently or in a cross functional team environment with the desire to proactively identify potential solutions or approaches in dynamic, fast-paced workplace. •Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule and budgets effectively. •Demonstrated ability to achieve client satisfaction. •Design-build experience implementing NEPA mitigation commitments is desired, but not required. •Knowledge of state DOT, FHWA, and local agency NEPA processes, and local, state and federal permitting processes.
