Spend the summer working alongside natural resource professionals!
AmeriCorps Conservation Academy Apprentices (ages 18-25) serve in a Minnesota Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), learning hands-on skills in managing soil and water resources. Management projects may include service and groundwater monitoring, wetland and watercourse inventories and assessments, preparation for cost-share and easement programs, field surveying and site inspections, and coordinating educational programs. Apprentices may also communicate with local landowners to develop management plans, gather input on best practices and provide education materials on water resources.

-- Term: May 16 – August 11, 2017
-- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. typical. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
-- Stipend: $1355/mo
-- Education award: $1527.78 upon successful completion of term
-- Location: 30 SWCD locations across Minnesota
-- Positive attitude and strong commitment to service and community work.
-- Ability to work outdoors across varied terrain and in all weather conditions.
-- Strong communication skills, with the ability to educate and interact with landowners and community -- members.
-- Academic and/or field experience in natural resources preferred.
-- 18-25 years old.
-- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
-- Full term of service must be completed in order to receive the education award.

-- Earn an AmeriCorps education award for school expenses or to pay off qualified student loans
-- Learn about current environmental issues and network with natural resource professionals
-- Get field experience and gain natural resource management skills
